St. John is a growing, vibrant and wonderful congregation that still desires to remain, “The Church at the Caring End of Ministry.” As Pastor, I would ask that you direct your concerns regarding the following requests to the person(s) listed below:

  • Counseling – TBA
  • Sick and Hospitalized – Call your Pastor, The Rev. Jesse Hawkins. I always see parishioners who are hospitalized.
  • Death – Call your pastor.
  • Meeting Space RequestsPlease contact the office, or download a copy of the Meeting Room Request Form.
  • Weddings – Call your Pastor.
  • Sick and Shut-In; Need CommunionPlease contact the office.

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Sunday Fulfillment Hour at 8:30 a.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room – “Find Freedom: a Focus on Romans” Dr. Candace Richardson will be our Facilitator.

Midday Bible Study - will be in session this Tuesday at 12 noon in the Multi-Purpose Room

Evening Bible Study - in session Tuesday 7:15 p.m.


MINISTRY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Hesed House
The St. John Music, Children and Youth Ministries will facilitate the service or Hesed House Sunday, April 29, 2018.
We are to prepare dinner for 200 guests on Sunday and 100 sack lunches for Monday, April 30, 2018.

Volunteers are needed to:
• Donate and prepare food
• Assist with serving food
• Assist with preparing the bag lunches
• Fellowship with the resident
• Assist the Hesed House Staff
• Assist wherever needed

Please contact the Rev. Vinson, Patricia Robinson, Rev. Lori Pryor or Leslie Davis to volunteer.

Collette Taylor will be representing our local WMS in:
THE A.M.E. CHURCH WOMEN'S MISSIONARY SOCIETY.

4TH EPISCOPAL DISTRICT "QUEENS CONTEST".
Collette would like her church family to support the contest by purchasing an ad for the souvenir journal.
Queen is crowned in July 2018. Please see her after church for more information.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Agape Connection, Inc Presents – A Mother’s Day Brunch – Sunday, May 13, 2018 from 12 - 3 p.m. $45.00 for adults and 15.50 for children ages 12 and under. Please RSVP by May 8, 2018 by calling the office at 630-898-5333, Tuesday - Friday 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

St. John will be celebrating the 2018 graduates on Sunday, June 10th. Graduates from 8th grade, high school, and postsecondary institutions will be recognized. If students would like to be recognized, please contact the Education and Scholarship Committee at sjceducationcmte@gmail.com as soon as possible to receive instructions. All requested information must be submitted by May 31, 2018. Senior high school graduates have the opportunity to apply for the St. John scholarship as well as the Richard E. Johnson Memorial Scholarship. A Dana Hughley Memorial Scholarship will also be awarded. Questions and materials may be directed to sjceducationcmte@gmail.com or to A.J. Collier at 630-688-8442.

Free Gospel Concert and Health Fair sponsored by the American Heart Association April 28, 2018. The event will be held at the House of Hope 752 E. 114th St. Chicago 60628. The Health and Wellness Expo begins at 4:30 p.m. and concert begins at 7 pm. Tickets available at: www.heart.org/powerchicago

The Gospel 5k/10k Run & Walk is set for June 2, 2018. The event will be held at Oakwood Beach in Burnham Park (39th Street & Lakeshore Drive, 1099 East Oakwood Blvd, Chicago, IL 60653) and begins at 7 a.m. This event is sure to be fun for friends, individuals and families. All are encouraged to register and participate in improving your health. Please visit http://gospelrun.com/site for more information and to register. Onsite registration will be available at St. John after Worship on 4/22, 4/29, 5/20 and 5/27.

In preparation of the Gospel 5K Run/Walk on June 2, 2018. A weekly walk is being held every Saturday from 8:00 a.m - 9:15 a.m. We will meet at the Vaughn Athletic Center, 2121 West Indian trail (630-907-9600).
