St. John is a growing, vibrant and wonderful congregation that still desires to remain, “The Church at the Caring End of Ministry.” As Pastor, I would ask that you direct your concerns regarding the following requests to the person(s) listed below:

  • Sick and Hospitalized – Call your Pastor, The Rev. Jesse Hawkins. I always see parishioners who are hospitalized.
  • Death – Call your pastor.
  • Meeting Space Requests – The Rev. Ken Cowan, Mrs. Sybil Luster, Receptionist, or download a copy of the Meeting Room Request form from the webpage.

Thank you for your cooperation, and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to give me a call. All of these protocol procedures will soon be published in our Membership and Policy Handbook.

This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.
–John 3:16, The Message (MSG)

MISSION STATEMENT: It is the mission of St. John to be a beacon of faith and transforming presence in the lives of individuals in the community we serve and in the wider world around us.

This month is Generosity Month. Instead of our tithes, I’m encouraging each of you to give in generosity of God’s goodness unto you and your family. He is deserving of our generosity. Please cooperate - “not equal giving, but equal sacrifice.” Summer has present some financial challenges and we need to always be good and faithful stewards.

We will have our annual Labor Day Prayer Breakfast on Monday, September 4th from 10 am - 12 noon. This year’s speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Luke Powery, PhD who is the Dean of Chapel for Duke University. Tickets are $35.00 and are available after service today.

Thanks to those who have volunteered to host and facilitate our Fall Bible Study. The Bible Study will be on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 8:15 pm. The dates are as follows: September 12, 19, 26; October 3, 10, 17, 24; November 7, 14, 29; December 5 and 12. There are 12 sessions. We will be registering persons as there will be a limit of 10 persons per group. Currently we have 4 hosts and 2 facilitators. We need at least 2 more hosts and 4 more facilitators. The host will only be responsible for the space ad if you chose to serve coffee or another beverage. Nothing else should be offered in terms of refreshments. We want all host to provide the same so there will be uni-formity across the board. Our text for the study will be “if” by Mark Batterson and Parker Batterson. We will purchase books before the study in order to get the best price. There will be training for facilitators.

Dear Pastor Hawkins, Ms. Mary and my St. John Family: Your prayers and support have been an inspiration to me while experiencing the beautiful country of Italy. My internship was very successful. The knowledge that I gained will enable me to finish my senior year strong. Thank you for all the prayers and support shown to me. Thank you for being the church at the caring end of ministry. Emily Cowan

The Womens Missionary Society, Sister Paula Pope (President), thanks the twenty-four (24) St. John members who were moved with compassion to help pack food at Feed My Starving Children on Monday, August 14th.   Hungry people in developing countries will receive the food.
