PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

St. John is a growing, vibrant and wonderful congregation that still desires to remain, “The Church at the Caring End of Ministry.” As Pastor, I would ask that you direct your concerns regarding the following requests to the person(s) listed below:

  • Counseling – TBA
  • Sick and Hospitalized – Call your Pastor, The Rev. Jesse Hawkins. I always see parishioners who are hospitalized.
  • Death – Call your pastor.
  • Meeting Space Requests – Please contact the office, or download a copy of the Meeting Room Request Form.
  • Weddings – Call your Pastor.
  • Sick and Shut-In; Need Communion – Please contact the office.

Thank you for your cooperation, and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to give me a call. All of these protocol procedures will soon be published in our Membership and Policy Handbook.

From the Pastor's Desk . . .

Due to the Passing of Bishop McKinley Young,  the Undershepherds will not  meet with Pastor on Saturday, January 26th, this meeting will be rescheduled.

Annual Meeting (Church Conference) will be held on Monday, January 28th at 7 p.m. This meeting is open to all members who are in good and regular standing (meaning you participate in worship, regular tithes and offering and persons who have paid their general budget for the year). Yearly Budget along with election of Trustees as well as appointments of Stewards and Undershepherds will be approved.

1st Quarter Connectional (General Budget) of $50 each member is due!!!

Midday Bible Study is cancelled for Tuesday, January 22 at 12 p.m.

Evening Bible Study - Unshakeable Hope is in session - Tuesday’s from 7:15 - 8:30 p.m.

MINISTRY ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Sign Singers of COG | St. John will be Among the Featured Guests on the Program for the City of Aurora’s Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Monday, January 21, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. East Aurora High School, 500 Tomcat Lane, Aurora, IL.

Agape Connection Presents - SANKOFA - a free experience open to students 1st through 8th grade. School will run Saturday, January 26 - March 2, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of Grace | St. John.

Women’s Ministry and Men’s Ministry - Our next fellowship meeting, and Bible Study will be held on Saturday, January 26th at 9:00 a.m. in the café.

The Mens Ministry ( M.U.S.C.L.E.) will host Super bowl Sunday here at COG|St. John on Sunday, February 3rd from 4 p.m. - until.

Dance in the name of love, life and health. The Health Ministry presents Saturday Line Dance Class taught by Belynda Head of Lines in Motion January classes will be held on the 5th and the 26th here at St. John at 11 a.m.

The Dreamers Wax Museum 2019 - Sunday, February 24 - Registration is now open for The Dreamers Wax Museum 2019.
The Museum will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019, at The Cathedral of Grace | St. John (immediately following morning worship services).

Children and youth up to 12th grade are invited to participate. Each participant will choose to portray a person of African descent who has made significant and lasting contributions to society. Please remember that icon selections are subject to approval. We do not accept duplicate icons, so get your icon selections submitted as quickly as possible. 
Participants will dress in character, prepare a tri-fold poster board containing information about their selection, and recite a few lines activated by ‘push buttons’ to museum guests.

Participation affords a wonderful, cultural, educational experience for children and adults alike!

The Music and Arts Ministry of the Cathedral of Grace | St John will be sponsoring two cultural excursions to the Auditorium Theatre:

Main Baptist Church invites you to their Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 6:30 pm. “The Voices” will come together for an annual celebration honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Please contact the church for additional information 630-898-7727.

The Quad County Urban League is accepting applications for CONSTRUCT, a 9-week training program for those interested in careers in construction or the utility sector. Save the Date - The Quad County Urban League’s Women’s Empowerment Summit will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Chicago Marriott Southwest Hotel, 1200 Burr Ridge Pkwy, Burr Ridge, IL. The summit will be a day filled with keynote addresses and panel discussions featuring local, regional and national women leaders. This summit will bring together seasoned professional and emerging women leaders in one place to interact and share career-expanding advice.

Health and Wellness Ministry - Words of Wisdom for January 2019

15 The prayer offered by those who have faith will make the sick person well. The Lord will heal them. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 So confess your sins to one another.
